Should I take bass lessons at a professional music store/studio or from a skilled teacher?

I’d like to know which would be better. And if your in the San Francisco Bay Area any suggestions on a reliable/ good bass teacher or place where i can learn the electric bass guitar.

Coming from someone who’s taught bass for a few years now…

If you’re beginning it doesn’t really matter, and music stores refer people to skilled teachers or music schools with those teachers anyway, so it’s a win-win situation. Of course, if you hear of someone who is especially good it may be worth contacting that teacher directly.
