How do I become better at soloing in blues guitar?

I’m 16 and I’ve only played for a little less than a year. I take lessons but i learn theory and it’s not really blues related. I know all the blues pentatonic scale forms.I also play an acoustic guitar… if that matters. I love the blues, especially when it’s really dirty.

I also learn licks from as many songs as I can get my hands on. My ear sucks so I take like, half an hour to learn a three second lick.
What do you think i should do? I practice as much as I can but the vast amount of homework, SAT prep, Chinese class, and work is taking its toll.

I might get an electric guitar soon, but I want to get to know the acoustic more before I play on electric.
I learn all the scales but i just feel like i’m not getting anywhere.

In addition to practicing scales, my lifelong buddy became a pretty good blues soloist by listening to many different artists and learning their solos. From this as a teen, he continued to develop his own style for fun even as he works as an electrical engineer. He still fronts a popular blues trio in his city on weekends and is a very good guitarist, now in his 50s. But even by his early 20s, he was being recruited to play guitar in local New Orleans bands.

Better to listen to the past and present masters than focus upon one guitarist. There are many different styles. 6th Street in Austin was ruined by the hundreds of SRV clones playing the clubs. I had to head over to 4th Street and La Zona Rosa while visiting.

Though the music instruction you receive may not seem to relate, it will help you.
