learning to play guitar solos?

i’ve been playing the acoustic guitar for about 4 years on and off. i’ve never had proper lessons, and im afraid that’s going to screw me up. i dont really try to get better, its more like i look up tabs for songs i like and i play them. from there i try to get better. but recently i feel like playing some solos but theyre hard. im not tring to make my own music or anything since i know im not ready yet, but i have the tabs in front of me and theyre still hard to play. is it mostly because im on an acoustic? i mean i dunno all the bends, hammers and slides get tough, but it shoudlnt slow me down that much. and picking is kinda slow. im trying to learn free bird as of now. im not really a “beginner” but any help at all would be appreciated. thanks.

First I would start with normal songs, then move to the harder parts. Yeah some songs are hard but you gotta just play them over and over, even if its slow, your fingers will eventually learn their spots and stick together and you will be able to play the song fast in no time. Try doing this step by step in solos and piece it together, so much easier then trying to play it all at once all the time
